You're welcome. I just spoke at a press industry conference and included it in my presentation, so you might see a little trickle of traffic from Australia. People thought it was super. Hats off to you guys. Cheers, Renee

Love love love this.

I learned the hard way with sponsorships, so I'm glad someone is giving a straightforward 'how to'.

Thanks Jim. PR is such a diverse field - perhaps uni curriculum should contain two streams - one based on social / political science and one based on business / marketing.

Thanks for covering this debate. And fair enough comments. It is important that we teach the right theory/knowledge to students. And that can always be improved. One of the challenges for unis is that many graduates in PR go to work in government, NGOs, local councils, etc and so sales/marketing skills may not be relevant - they should do political science or social science. Thus, we tend to slot business, marketing, languages, politics, and other such complementary subjects in as electives so students can choose to suit their planned career path. Perhaps we should counsel them and urge them more to do important complementary subjects in addition to their core communication and PR subjects. And I agree that writing is fundamental to everything.
